Hi Jibbr Jabbr readers!
My name is Jacob. I’m 16 years old, I’ll be a junior in high school this fall, and quite frankly… I’m just like any other teen. I’m in my school’s marching band, I run cross country, I like to write, act, and sing.
The thing that sets me apart? Well, I’d like to think it’s my compassion.
Since I was little, my teachers, family, and mentors have instilled in me a great sense of empathy towards others. With this in my heart, I instantly felt compelled to do something to make a difference when I was volunteering at my local nursing home and saw so may seniors experiencing devastating symptoms of loneliness and isolation.
So, I started writing these anonymous letters of kindness to residents at my local nursing home. They were really well received, and with lots of encouragement from a few of my friends, I decided to create a website, social media platforms, and really just get the word out about my cause.
With lots of determination and hard work, three years later, I’m here today with a global nonprofit that has impacted tens of thousands of seniors and inspired people from over 50 countries and 6 continents to show more love to their elders!
I’ve now expanded Love for the Elderly beyond just anonymous letters… and we have a Senior Buddy pen-pal program, a Social Impact program, and more!
Our newest program, SunshineBox, is launching this August, which is essentially where we'll be distributing gift boxes filled with fun, vibrant items from things like smiley face stress balls to neon yellow sunglasses, all in an effort to put a smile on the recipients' faces!
Our goal is to spread love to a group of people who are so deserving... and are truly so precious in their final and most precious stage of life.
